With over 29 years in the energy industry and 11 years of experience in the deregulated energy business, Mr. Howell‘s expertise covers the broad expanse of the electricity and natural gas markets. Mr. Howell was a key member of two industry startups and has experience in all facets of electric and natural gas marketing ranging from procurement to customer enrollment. He has worked within energy marketing firms to develop lines of energy products that meet the needs of businesses, government and non-profit customers. With energy becoming an ever increasing portion of a business’s expenditures, Mr. Howell can advise customers on energy purchases as well as viable conservation and self –generation options.
Mr. Howell has been the featured speaker to participants Building Owners Management Association of Hartford, the Connecticut Chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management (Chapter 51), the Massachusetts Power Options Aggregation, and the Maryland Society of Association Executives on the topics of regulatory change, the energy market and energy procurement.
Prior to the Founding of Howell Energy Consulting in the summer of 2008, Mr. Howell had worked with Direct Energy developing their New England and New York electric pricing department as well as launching a very successful Aggregation and Association marketing channel. He facilitated various organization’s and group’s access to wholesale markets while mitigating risks through the aggregation of buying power.
Prior to his time with Direct Energy, Mr. Howell was the manager of electric and natural gas pricing for the former Select Energy. At Select Energy he managed and negotiated large retail deals, creating products and developing contract language that was acceptable to both customers and Select Energy.
